YOGABIRTH - ACTIVE BIRTH YOGA AND BIRTH PREPARATION

ABOUT THE CLASSES

Active Birth Yoga is a wonderful way to prepare you for the birth of your baby. It is the ideal exercise for pregnancy as you work to your own capabilities. If you practice between classes, you can ease aches and pains and get all the exercise you need for a healthy pregnancy and birth. 

1½ hours of yoga, movement, breathing and relaxation, plus ½ hour for discussion with refreshments, will give you a chance to focus on nurturing yourself and your growing baby. The classes will help you to enjoy your pregnancy, make friends and prepare you for your baby's birth and beyond. You can start at any stage in your pregnancy, ideally from the third month. People benefit most by continuing throughout the pregnancy until your baby is due.

Books, leaflets and information on all aspects of having a baby are also available at the classes. Mothers who already have children enjoy the class because it gives them a special time to concentrate on the new baby. Mothers are invited back to the class reunions to share their experiences.

 ABOUT THE YOGA

This form of yoga, influenced by the teaching of Vanda Scaravelli, while very simple, can have far-reaching effects.  Using gravity, breathing and movement  to improve structural alignment, it can reduce tension, release energy and prevent or relieve many of the discomforts that often accompany pregnancy. Previous experience of yoga is not necessary and this type of yoga will not present any difficulty to beginners.  You are encouraged to to give yourself time to practise the exercises, breathing and relaxation between classes.
