Acupuncture for pregnancy and labour with Jacqueline Mangold

E-mail Print

Acupuncture is a safe and efficient therapy to support the mother to be and help alleviate symptoms during pregnancy, labour and in the post-natal period. It is widely used to prepare the pelvis and cervix for labour and promote optimal foetal positioning as well as to help induce labour. Acupressure can be used alongside or as an alternative to acupuncture. Here are some common symptoms/conditions for which acupuncture might be considered alongside midwifery/medical care:

  • Anaemia
  • Anxiety
  • Breech and posterior positions
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Constipation
  • Headaches
  • Hypertension
  • Haemorroids and vulval varices
  • Heartburn
  • Insomnia
  • Muskulo-skeletal pain (including pelvic pain)
  • Nausea and morning sickness
  • Oedema
  • Sinus problems
  • Tiredness and exhaustion
  • Thrush
  • etc.
